Boss Dave Artell beamed a huge smile of satisfaction when facing the media at full-time in the knowledge that his Alex side had finally got their just desserts for recent performances - and what a performance it was at Lincoln City.

Despite going 1-0 down at at Sincil Bank to Michael Bostwick's header, the Alex fought back though Harry Pickering, Jordan Bowery (2) and a Paul Green penalty to record an outstanding 4-1 victory..

Artell said: "It's been coming, it has. You might think I'm emotional or just not sane, but the last five performances have been worth a lot more points than what we have got, and it was only a matter of time before we turned someone over convincingly.

"Today was the day. Anything they threw at us, and how much they load it in the box, we dealt with it. It was thoroughly deserved.

"We looked more of an attacking threat, the first-half was a nion-event apart from Harry's brilliant free-kick.

"Then we proved what a good side we can be in the second half, with no silly mistakes. We remained calm and composed were effective. It was pleasing.

"I am sure George Ray will be sore but he makes such a difference, and we have missed him. He was terrific.

"People will question Jordan's scoring record but he didn't score many last season but Chris Dagnall got loads alongside him. Does that mean he can't score goals? No.

"I told him at half-time, challenged him, to get in the six yard box and he got there twice and scored two. He is an absolute thoroughbred of a physical specimen and he needs to use it.

"I am always of the belief we have good players. Does one win make a season? No. But we know we are not far off. We should have beat Exeter, we battered Accrington, we did well against Yeovil, but didn't get the points.

"Today we got exactly what we deserved."
