Artell: "Up To Us To Replicate Christmas Shut-Outs"

13 February 2018

David Artell is hopeful that Saturday’s clean-sheet against Yeovil Town will be the start of less goals going into the Crewe net. Going into the weekend clash with the Glovers, Crewe had lost four games on the spin, conceding 12 goals in the process.

Crewe were certainly harder to beat at Gresty Road on Saturday but we couldn’t find a goal of our own to take all three points.

Now Artell is hoping his Crewe side can replicate the defensive form that recently saw us keep three clean-sheets in three wins over Crawley, Chesterfield and Grimsby.

Ahead of our clash at Accrington, Artell said: “We had a decent run over Christmas and managed to keep three clean-sheets out of five. That gave us the platform to go on and win those games quite comfortably in the end.

“That is what we have to try and replicate now. We managed to get a clean-sheet on Saturday and limit their chances over the 90 minutes. It is up to us to build on that now.

“If we can get a few more clean-sheets then that will be a massive help in us winning football matches. It was a real positive to do that on Saturday but now we have to go and show we can do it again against a team going for promotion.”
