We Still Need To Become More Ruthless

31 December 2018

On one hand, David Artell is delighted to have secured six precious points over the festive period but he is demanding that his side become more ruthless in front of goal. Crewe secured deserved wins over league leaders, Lincoln City and Stevenage but he believes that the winning margins should have been greater and more comfortable.

Ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Gigg Lane, the manager told us:  “We had plenty of opportunities to have put the game out of Stevenage’s reach before half-time. We were a yard or so away from scoring three or four more in that first half.

“Jordan has gone through and needed a touch to go around the goalkeeper. He also needed a touch at a set-piece and Chris had one when he went through as well. There were loads of genuine opportunities where we just failed to slip someone in.

“It should have been a lot more comfortable than it was and we need to be more ruthless so it becomes more comfortable.

“We have the firepower, the creativity and players to do that.”
