Crewe Alexandra Under 18s made it three league wins on the bounce with a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Sheffield United at Reaseheath.

The glut of Alex goals came just before half-time with Nathan Woodthorpe, Joe Robbins & Connor Heath getting on target as Crewe recovered from going 2-0 down early on.

The first came when a left-side corner was swung into the box & the Blades were allowed to play head-tennis before eventually forcing the ball in from close range.

That lead was extended after a fine passing build-up with the Blades striker eventually caressing the ball into the bottom corner with his instep from the edge of the box.

Impressively, Crewe fought back from that deficit. Firstly, Woodthorpe got in ahead of the goalkeeper to glance Jack Goodrich's looping cross home with his head for 2-1 six minutes shy of the interval.

Five minutes later, and one shy of the interval, Robbins made the scores level. Rio Adebisi's long throw was flicked on a few times before Heath squared the ball for his midfielder partner to slam home from close range.

As if the short spell couldn't have been any better for the Alex, Heath himself put Crewe ahead just moments later with the last kick of the first half. He took in Goodrich's low ball to the edge of the box with back to goal & produced a wonderful touch up to set before thrashing a mesmeric volley into the net.

The second half produced just one goal, but crucially, it has to extend the Alex's lead. Robbins notched his second of the contest when Abdul Djalo won possession back in the Crewe half & set away Heath. He produced a lovely back-heel for the oncrushing Robbins to bear down on goal & slot through the keepers' legs to secure the 4-2 win.
