Preview: Crewe Ready For Forest Green Return

21 December 2018

Crewe Alexandra travel to Forest Green this weekend looking to avenge last season's late horror-show at The New Lawn.

The Alex had look set for a 2-1 victory amidst torrential conditions in Gloucestershire before Rovers scored twice late on to leave Crewe feeling glum.

Boss Dave Artell is adamant he doesn't want his squad to go through a day like that again, particularly a few days before Christmas, & has his troops fired up for the match.

Rovers are proving a difficult proposition this season however, sitting ninth in the Sky Bet League table - though their home form isn't great, winning just two from ten on their own patch.

Date: Saturday 22 December 2018

Competition: Sky Bet League Two

Venue: The New Lawn

Previous Meeting At Host Club: Forest Green 3-2 Crewe (November 2018)

Referee: Matthew Donohue (P20, Y69, R3)

Crewe: The Alex have a fully fit squad to chosen from following Paul Green's early recovery from his knee problem.

That could cause a squad selection headache for Manager Dave Artell, with several experience players not expected to make the final 18 man squad.

The Alex boss is looking for reaction from his team after losing two on the bounce against Oldham & Exeter without scoring a goal.

Forest Green: Remarkably, Forest Green too have no injury problems - though Paul Digby is starting a three-match suspension.

Rovers have only won two games at home this season, but they've also only lost two with the other six ending all-square. On the flip-side, their away form is the best in the whole of League Two.
