David Artell described our defeat to Oldham Athletic 'as our worst of the season' and he has gone through the key pointers with his players today. Artell was left scratching his head after his side lost only their third home game of the season to an impressive Oldham side.

Crewe were second best all over the pitch and Artell didn’t hold anything back in his honest assessment. He knows his team have to show a high level of consistency if we are going to do anything this season in terms of climbing the table and putting pressure on the top ten.

Dave said following the 2-0 defeat. "It was our worst performance by a country mile.

"Not one player got themselves going. They came here and stopped us playing, we didn't lay a glove on them and they were able to stop us playing.

"It was a great opportunity to go above Oldham but we were inept, from one to 11.

"This was a terrible performance, matched by the result. I’ll defend (the players) if I have to but I can’t defend that.

"It’s not acceptable. Yes they had the best of the conditions but it’s no excuse for a performance like that."
