Artell: "We Don't Want To Be Gallant Losers Anymore"

21 December 2018

Crewe Alexandra manager, David Artell, says that his side cannot afford to have too many hard luck stories on the road if we are going to enjoy a successful time on the road.

Crewe travel to Forest Green Rovers this weekend hoping to secure only a second away win of the season and the gaffer says he doesn’t want to be gallant losers again after narrowly losing 1-0 at Exeter City last time out.

Artell told the club’s official website: “The players have trained well this week and we have worked on a number of things. The fact is we have to become more ruthless in both boxes and take those opportunities that we do tend to get in most games.

“I said after the Exeter game that we cannot be unlucky losers. It has happened far too often and if Shaun (Miller) had tucked that one away at the end like he should have done then we could have been talking about a great point at Exeter.

“Instead we again got nothing when we should have got something. The belief has to be there and if we play well enough then there is no reason why we cannot get a result against any side in the division.

“It will down to who takes their opportunities better.”
