Gaffer Expects 'Terrific' Green To Be Fit To Go Again

28 December 2018

David Artell expects his veteran midfielder Paul Green to be ‘absolutely fine’ and make himself available for selection against Stevenage tomorrow. Green made his first start for the club since late August after overcoming a cruciate knee injury ahead of schedule.

The former Republic of Ireland International gave a man-of-the-match display to help inspire us to a deserved 2-1 victory over league leaders Lincoln City at the Alexandra Stadium. He played 80 minutes before he was withdrawn as a precaution with so many fixtures coming in a short space of time.

David told the club’s official website:  “Paul is a professional footballer and he knows his body better than anyone. He can handle it and we only took him off with ten minutes to go to make sure he didn’t cramp up or pull something.

“He was terrific for us in there and everyone can see the difference he can make.

“I expect him to train today and be fit for the weekend. I asked him about the game afterwards and he said that everyone knew what they had to do. That clarity and knowing their jobs and then executing it was key. We were on top of them and made things very difficult for them.”
