Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has told the club’s official website that his forward players have to keep on believing that they will return to finding the back of the net on a regular basis soon.
The Alex boss is aggrieved that we have only scored three goals away from home and he is hoping that barren run will end at Forest Green this weekend. Crewe have not scored in eight of our 11 away games this season – a fact that Artell has said this week is 'simply not good enough.'
The Crewe boss said: “You have to give them the belief, if they can’t get it themselves, that their techniques will stand them in good stead.
“That they are going to get the chance and they are going to take them.
“Jordan’s quite a sensitive lad. He’s receptive to what you say.
“So if you have a go at him he may take it to heart.
“That’s his character, he’s a lovely fella.
“We have to make sure that if he hasn’t scored for a few games – I’m not going to dress it up he has to do better – he knows he still has the techniques that got him a move to the Premier League.
“He’s actually a better player now than he was then. He has more experience, he’s
Artell added: “We have to make sure that, when we’re on top and playing well, we score goals.
“We had ample opportunities (at Exeter). It’s not the service, it’s the taking of chances. It’s that snatching at it, or not being in the right place. We’ll keep working with them.”
