Artell: "About Time We Were Looking Upwards"

6 December 2018

David Artell is looking for a consistent Christmas campaign to give ourselves a fighting chance of breaking into the top seven in 2019. The Alex boss wants us to be within touching distance of a play-off place when we enter the business end of the season and he firmly believes that his players possess the capabilities to surprise a few people and secure one of those places.

The Crewe Alexandra boss feels that the League Two table is still very open to a host of clubs.

He told crewealex.net: “I would say there are 12 clubs who will be thinking they can mount a challenge for the play-offs. The top six will be thinking about automatic promotion and the rest down to probably the bottom six or seven will be thinking about the top seven. It is that open.

“The key will be to be consistent but I believe that we have the capabilities to be looking up and not down.

The boss added: “I don’t think the performances have been too bad but we have to make sure that we convert that into points. At a professional level it is the results that are the most important and we need a few more games like the Cambridge game when we win when not playing well.”
