Crewe Looking To Improve Record At Exeter

14 December 2018

David Artell’s Crewe Alexandra have been on the receiving end of two heavy defeats at St. James’ Park during his reign as manager and he knows that his side will have to produce one of their complete away performances of the season if we are to record a second away win. Crewe’s only success on the road came at Stevenage.

Artell is hoping his side can turn around our away form with a really positive display at 9th placed Exeter City.

David told crewealex.net: “It is never easy going to Exeter and our record of late has not been good, but they are on a bit of sticky run themselves, so we have to try and take advantage of that. Perhaps it will be a good time to play them?

“Exeter are a good team and have good players. For them to only be outside of the play-offs after their recent run speaks volumes. It is probably the first test of the manager’s career there but we know the quality they have with Stockley and Holmes and players of that calibre.

“We have to focus on what we want to do and I am not sure if it is a mental thing with some of them to play away from home. I really don’t think it is, but it is difficult to really know unless the player or person is an open character.

“I don’t think it is but you cannot be 100% sure with one or two, but the only way to get over it is to do it, perform well and get results.”
