David Artell has also revealed today that we will be without promising youngster Harry Pickering for an extended period. Pickering, who has been one of the club's most consistent performers in the opening games of the season suffered a serious hamstring tear in the 6-0 defeat at Colchester United.
Pickering, whose versatility has already seen him operate in defence and in midfield this season, has suffered a grade 3 tear of the muscle and although no time period has been set on a possible return, the 19-year-old has been deemed a long term absentee.
Artell has also lost midfielder Paul Green, possibly for the rest of the season, after he suffered a serious knee in the 1-0 defeat at Carlisle United on Saturday.
Artell told crewealex.net: “Harry has a grade 3 hamstring tear and that means he will be out for a long time as well. It is what it is and you just have to get on with it.
“It is a blow because Harry had been finding his feet in the team and performing well.
“We have a squad capable of riding two, three, four injuries and those that come into the side have to come in and do a job. They have to perform well and stay in the team on merit.”
