Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has not ruled out making a last ditch move in the transfer window. The Alex boss would still like to bring in a new full-back to offer cover and competition in that position before the loan window closes at the end of the month.
EFL clubs can still bring in loan players before 1st September and although the boss says another deal is not likely, he hasn’t totally ruled it out.
The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “You never-say-never and that is how I am approaching it. The window is still open for loans and although it is unlikely, I wouldn’t rule it out.
“We would have to be imaginative with it, but it is something I wouldn’t totally rule out.
“I would say we have a stronger squad than last year but again two injures in the same position has us at the bare bones again.
“It is about having that balance and making sure we are covered for all possibilities. We are short in one particular area, but we were last season as well.
“We will just have to wait and see what happens.”
