Macclesfield Deserve Their Place In The EFL

29 August 2018

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says our Cheshire neighbours, Macclesfield Town, deserve all the plaudits for winning promotion by ten points last season.

The Silkmen are back in the EFL after an absence of six years and Artell is full of praise for the work that has been achieved at Moss Rose despite a limited budget.

The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “Macclesfield had a terrific season and they deserve to be back in the league.

“John (Askey) did a great job in getting them back up and although he has moved onto Shrewsbury, Mark (Yates) is a very experienced manager who is familiar with this level.

“They have done a fantastic job there on limited resources and after Saturday, I wish them all the luck because it is only good for us to have more local sides in the division.

“They have had some good results of late but it will be up to us to do our own business. It has to be about us and we need to get back to winning games.”
