Crewe Alexandra midfielder James Jones revealed that his mum asked him to get a goal apiece for her and his nan after the pair were forced to miss the Morecambe opener.
Enjoying a summer holiday, they weren't around to witness the double-strike by son & grandson James & he vowed to grab them a goal each to make up for it.
Jonah didn't disappoint either. He notched a second half brace - both sublime strikes from outside the box - to add to Charlie Kirk, Alex Nicholls (2) & Chris Porter's goals in the eventual 6-0 drubbing.
Jones said after the match: "It was a great performance from the team. Ultimately the goal going into the game was to get three points & to start off as well as we could & play as we knew we could & you can't ask for much more on the opening day.
"It's something that I think I've added to my game since a few seasons ago - scoring goals. To get two in a game is great.
"Before the game my mum said to get her a goal beacuse she's away with my nan at the moment. So then she said to get a goal for my nan as well, so that's for both of them!
"Two goals in one game, I've not done that in a first team game before, so I'm really happy with that.
"I've come away from games previously thinking oh I could've had a couple there, but to take the chances I really can't complain with the two goals."
