David Artell believes that his Crewe Alexandra side can take some major positives from our performance against Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup.
The Alex held Joey Barton’s League One over 90 minutes before eventually going out of the competition on penalties. The Crewe Alexandra boss was disappointed to have exited the League Cup at the first hurdle, but he admits that his players can take credit from the performance.
Ahead our home game against MK Dons this weekend, Artell told the club’s official website: “If anyone edged it on Tuesday it was probably Fleetwood but I didn’t think they did enough to win it. We didn’t either and I thought a draw over 90 minutes was a fair result.
“In the Cup there had to be a winner and we lost the penalty save mainly due to the world class save from the goalkeeper from Pez.
The boss added: “I think we can take great credit from the performance and we were content with what we saw on the night. There is room for improvement, we know that and the aim is to get better every day.”
