Zooms Closing In On Return To Training

9 April 2018

Crewe Alexandra are hoping to be handed another injury boost this week with the news that left-back Zoumana Bakayogo is close to resume training.

The Frenchman has been ruled out with a calf strain and he suffered a recurrence just before he was about to resume full training, but the former Leicester City man is now closing in on a return.

The defender, 31, has made 35 appearances this season, but has not featured since the 2-1 home defeat by Coventry City on 17th March.

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell told us: “Zooms is improving and he is not that far off now. It will depend on nature but if it is not by the end of this week, then I am told he will back training at the beginning of next week.

“He has pushed himself as ever and I’m sure with four games left, he will be ready to go if needed.

“If he is not quite there yet then we have enough to cover at the moment. It would be nice though to have everyone fit and available for the remaining few games.”
