David Artell has told the club’s official website that Perry Ng thoroughly deserved to be the recipient of the Sky Bet goal of the month for March following his fantastic strike away at Stevenage. Ng was presented with his trophy this week after winning over half the vote.

The Crewe boss told crewealex.net: “Perry deserved the award, it was a great strike. He showed great skill to chop back off the line and then hit it with great power with his left foot into the top corner.

“It was an excellent goal at a crucial time of the game. It got us back into the game and gave us the opportunity to go on and get a point thanks to Charlie’s injury-time goal.

“Stevenage had not lost at home since October at that point, so it was an important point for us. It felt like a win at the time and it set us up to go to places like Lincoln and Mansfield and perform like we did. “
