Ng Wins Sky Bet Goal Of The Month For March

13 April 2018

Crewe Alexandra defender Perry Ng is the Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month winner for March, receiving 51% of the public vote.

The man with the shortest name in the Sky Bet EFL left no-one in any doubt how to spell it after dispossessing Mark McKee, striding forward and thundering home a left-footed strike.

Lead Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month judge and Sky Sports Pundit Don Goodman said: “This fantastic strike from the young right back is made doubly impressive when you consider that Perry struck this shot with his weaker foot and the strike was powerful enough to beat the keeper at his near post.

“The academy graduate kick started a terrific comeback for Crewe, and after the game thanked the academy staff for the shooting practice they’d done with him. It’s obviously paying off.”

Ng said: “I’m not used to winning awards like this because I’m a defender, so it’s brilliant.  We were 2-0 down away at Stevenage, which is a tough place to go.

“I won the ball high up the pitch, cut inside, and I had quite a lot of time so I just thought I’d whack one and luckily I caught it well and it went top corner with my left foot.
