Lunt: "We Can Take A Lot From Luton Performance"

17 April 2018

Crewe Alexandra’s assistant manager Kenny Lunt says there were plenty of positives to take from last Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to promotion hunting Luton Town. The Railwaymen were very much in the game against Nathan Jones’ side but were undone by two world class strikes from Elliott Lee and Pelly- Ruddock Mpanzu.

Lunt was pleased with the spirit the Alex showed as they tried to get back into the game at Kenilworth Road.

He told us: “There were a lot of positives to take from the game. We had some chances against a top team and we finished the game strongly. They will be promoted at the end of the season but we were in the game.

“We were disappointed to concede from two corners because we had improved on that. The third goal is a great strike from their lad but we didn’t get enough bodies out there. I think it was his first goal of the season and if he tried it another ten times, he won’t strike one as well as that.

“We have played consistently well of late. I think we have lost 3 out of 9 games or something like that. We didn’t perform to the level against Notts County and then Barnet but other than those two, we have been consistently good.

He added: “The points see us where we are now and all we are doing is concentrating on the last three games and seeing how many points we can finish with. The aim is win the last three games.”
