Jordan Showing The Form That Prompted Villa To Buy Him

18 April 2018

Crewe Alexandra’s assistant manager, Kenny Lunt, believes that Jordan Bowery is again showing the ability why Aston Villa were prepared to take him to the Premier League back in 2012. The Nottingham-born forward joined Villa from Chesterfield in the same summer that our own Ashley Westwood made his move to Villa Park.

Bowery’s recent form has seen him surpass Chris Porter as our leading scorer this season and he was recently nominated for the Fans PFA award for player of the month in League Two.

Bowery has hit the best form of his career in terms of goals and he goes into Saturday’s home game with Morecambe with 8 goals from his last 9 appearances.

Lunt told crewealex.net: “Jordan is playing with great confidence and scoring goals always helps with that. He is getting used to hitting the back of the net on a regular basis.

“He brings a lot more to the team but every striker wants to score goals. Who knows who could be watching him or is interested in him? If he had been hitting the back of the net at the start of the season then he would have been on for 20 goals plus.

“Jordan has been terrific for us and he still has time on his side to go on again. Every time we have faced a team this season their manager has usually mentioned him and what a good player he is for the team.

“We just say we know because we see him every day and we appreciate what he does. The club stick by our players when they go through a bad patch and we are getting our reward for that with Jordan.

“He just has to keep that going.”
