Jones Faces Race Against Time To Be Fit for Weekend

24 April 2018

Alex midfielder James Jones faces a race against time to declare himself to travel to Crawley this weekend.

The former Scotland Under-21 International was withdrawn from the squad to face Morecambe at the weekend after complaining of a tight hamstring.

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell did not take any risk with the attack-minded midfielder following his long term injuries this season.

He recently returned to action after almost 10 months out with injury and he celebrated his first goal of the campaign with the opening goal in our 4-3 win at Mansfield Town.

Artell told crewealex.net : “Jonah hasn’t trained because he felt some discomfort in his hamstring. When you have been out for so long, you tend to get those twinges because your body is adjusting to the load again.

“He wants to play the games but we have to make sure he is right. He came to me and said he didn’t feel totally right, so I said okay you will miss this one. I don’t want him to get injured again.

The boss added: “We will see how he is this week and if he trains before we consider him for the weekend.”
