David Artell does not ‘envisage any problems’ when it comes to Charlie Kirk re-signing for the club. Kirk has been in the best form of his life at first-team level of late, scoring four goals in his last eight games.
Artell has opened discussions with the winger in regards to a new deal and the Crewe boss says that talks with the player’s representatives have been encouraging too.
David told the club’s official website: “We have spoken to Charlie and have been in contact with his agency.
“I really do not envisage any problem with him when it comes to his contract. He knows how much time we have spent helping him.
“We have had to wait patiently for him to really come through and he is now showing the potential we always thought he had.
“He knows how much we have helped with that development and not many clubs would have waited two years for a young player to mature like we have. It is as simple as that and Charlie appreciates that.
“He isn’t ready to leave yet. I think he understands that and he is best served by continuing his development here.”
