Boss: "I Want The Players On Their Toes For Remaining Games"

19 April 2018

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says his players will remain ‘very much on their toes’ when it comes to playing in the remaining three games of the season.

Crewe host Morecambe this weekend and Artell says that with an almost fully fit squad to choose from, places are up for grabs to finish the campaign in the team.

David told us: “We want to keep the players on their toes, 100%. The competition is good and those that have the shirts at the moment have earned them. They deserve to be in the team but they know they have to play well to keep their place.

“If they play under par or make mistakes then there a number of players now ready to take their place. That has not necessary been the case in the season when we have had a large number of injuries to contend with.

“The players know because I’ve always told them that they have to play well to stay in this team. That is what we have been trying to create and when we can bring Ainley, Porter and Dagnall in off the bench, it goes to show how the competition has improved.”
