Boss Aiming To End The Season On A High To Take Into Next Season

9 April 2018

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell wants this side to end this season on a high, so we can take that improving belief and confidence into next season. The Alex boss has always reiterated that his side would be a different proposition when he got his injured players' back and could add some extra bodies to his squad in the January transfer window.

Now Artell wants to end the current season on a positive note and then focus on building a team capable of enjoying a much better campaign in 2018/19.

David told us: “I have always said that things can change very quickly in this game. It is all about building that momentum and getting on that roll. It has been while coming for us and I am not sure how many points we have collected in the last 10 games or so, but it feels as though we have turned a bit of a corner.

“Just in the same way that you can get in a rut and ending up losing games you shouldn’t, it can happen the other way. You end up not being beaten and take that into the next one and then the next one.

“I was part of a run like that here. We ended up going unbeaten for 18, 19 games and won promotion. There were times we didn’t play well. We played at Rotherham at the Don Valley and we were terrible. We ended up drawing the game and we thought we were on to something here!

“It is amazing that when you go on a run like that, you tend to get what you need from the game.

The Alex boss added: “What we need to do is take that belief and resilience into next season. If we can, then we have a chance.”
