"As A Striker You Want To Finish As Leading Scorer"

20 April 2018

Chris Porter has praised the contribution of Jordan Bowery, the on-loan Shaun Miller and Harry McKirdy after they have stepped up to the plate.

With Porter and fellow experienced striker Chris Dagnall both struggling with injury of late, Bowery and the others have filled the goals void in style. Bowery, so much so, that he is now the leading goalscorer at the club on 13 goals. Porter, who had an exceptional first half of the season is now one goal behind.

Chris told the club’s official website: “With me and Chris Dagnall out injured it was up for others to step up to the plate and they have been great. Jordan has been fantastic for us and his goals have helped us get a lot points of late.

“We are 99% safe and that is a massive relief for everyone.

“There are three games left and as a striker you want to finish the season as the leading goalscorer. Jordan will be the same, so there is one goal in it and three games left.

“We will both be looking to score goals in the remaining games but it won’t affect the way we play. I’m sure we will pass the ball to each other or a teammate is better placed.

“Now we are virtually safe, it will make us more relaxed and hopefully we can continue to play some good stuff.”
