We Can Stand Up To Teams Better

11 September 2017

Kenny Lunt believes this Crewe Alexandra side are better equipped to cope with more physical sides. The club’s Assistant manager says that the introduction of more senior players this summer has helped with that side of things.

Crewe Alexandra host Cambridge United on Tuesday night and Lunt says that this Crewe side can now stand up to a more physical approach thanks to the signings of Michael Raynes, Brad Walker, Chris Porter and Eddie Nolan.

Ahead of the visit of the U’s, Lunt told crewealex.net: “We have had a decent return points wise so far and perhaps it could have been even better.

“We want the players to show their ability and play like they did against Chesterfield. We know it is not always going to be like that and I think we have coped with sides that are more direct. We did that against Newport and then Port Vale when they started hitting Popey in the second half there.

“We stood up to it well and showed that when it gets a bit tough, we can hang in there and continue to play our football.

“I think the experienced players we have been able to bring in have helped with that. Not only have they been there and done it but they add to some size as well in both boxes.”
