David Artell has told the club’s official website that his Crewe Alexandra team are well equipped to propel themselves into the pack that are chasing promotion this season.
The Alex boss believes that there is not much to divide League Two this season and he wants his team to discover some real consistency to make us genuine contenders.
Crewe will be looking to bounce back from two successive defeats against Carlisle United this weekend.
The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “The players know we have to get better if we want to be at the top end. We have to find that consistency because this week has shown that we can be up and down.
“We beat Chesterfield 5-1 with a great performance and although we dominated the second half against Cambridge we ended up losing 1-0. We then lost to Exeter, who are flying, but I didn’t think it was a 3-0 game.
“Exeter are the best team we have played by a country mile. In the other games, there hasn’t been too much between the teams. I thought even Chesterfield were decent in moments against us.
“The league is there for the taking and we have to make sure we are one of them in the pack. There is nothing in the league for me. You will have the clubs with the biggest budgets to spend up there and competing, but I think everyone has a chance.
“Exeter were bottom for a while last season and they ended up losing in the play-off final, so we know anything can happen. It is those clubs that show that real consistency who will be in the pack, it is as simple as that, and we need to be one of them.
He added: “Even when we are not playing as well as we would like, it is important that we drag a result out of ourselves.”
