Staff Reasonably Happy With The Defensive Record

12 September 2017

Crewe Alexandra’s assistant manager Kenny Lunt says the coaching staff have been relatively pleased with the club’s defensive record this season. The Railwaymen have not conceded two goals in a game in the EFL this season and Lunt says that if the goals-against-column continues to be reasonable then we have every chance of having a successful campaign.

Ahead of the visit of Cambridge United at Gresty Road this evening, Lunt said: “We have been reasonably pleased with the defending. We are defending well as a unit and although we have conceded goals this season, we are conceding less than last season.

“The players and staff have put a lot of work into that and long may it continue. Every team concedes goals at some point but I think we have one of the best defensive records in the league at the moment and it’s been a while since we have been able to say that.

“We have to keep that going and if we can get more clean-sheets then we know we have a great chance in every game because of the players we have on the pitch, or the ones we can call on from the bench.

Kenny added: “We know we have goals in this team and if we can get that balance right then we will have a good season.”
