Crewe Alexandra defender Michael Raynes knows first-hand how dangerous our former Academy graduate Shaun Miller can be. Raynes spent two seasons at Carlisle United, making 97 appearances before agreeing to sign for the Alex this summer.
Raynes is looking forward to trying to keep his former teammate quiet at Gresty Road.
Michael told the club’s official web-site: “I’m sure that Shaun will be the first to admit that his first year at Carlisle didn’t go as smoothly as he would have wanted, but I saw his quality every day in training. I know what a top finisher he is. He is a goal scorer and always a threat.
“Shaun will be a good test for us back lads and we will have to watch his movement closely.
“We may have lost our last two games but there hasn’t been any pressing of a panic button. I think anyone who saw the Cambridge game would admit that we were the better side and deserved something from the game.
“Sometimes in football you have games like that, where you are on top for large periods but end up getting beaten by the odd goal. I thought we played some really good stuff against Cambridge.”
