Players Have Responded Well

8 September 2017

David Artell says he is pleased with the way his players have responded in training this week. The Crewe Alexandra boss was hugely frustrated with the manner of our performance at Grimsby last week.

A Mitch Rose header from a short corner ended our unbeaten start in League Two and the Alex boss now wants his players to transfer the work they have done this week into today’s home game against Chesterfield.

Artell told crewealex.net: “It has been a good week. The players have responded well after Grimsby and now they have to take that response into the Chesterfield game tomorrow.

“I would have preferred to have had a game on the Tuesday night because we had been dreadful at Grimsby and put the wrongs from that game, right as soon as possible. We have the chance to do that tomorrow.

“We have had one bad performance out of seven, and whilst I do not accept it, it has been a decent start. Hopefully, we can now go longer than seven games before it happens again.

“We have moved on and the players have trained well. I’ve been pleased with them.”
