David Artell has told crewealex.net that his side have to get back to doing what they are best at to turn our recent run of defeats around. Carlisle United’s 5-0 win over the Railwaymen was our third on the bounce and without a goal in our favour, and Artell says that the improvement is needed in both boxes.
Crewe travel to Wycombe tomorrow, aiming to get back on track in League Two.
The Alex boss said: “In the first six games, we looked like a side that were not going to concede too many goals. We also scored goals but that hasn’t been the case in the last three games. We have softened in both boxes.
“We have shipped goals and not scored, and that is not a recipe for success.
“The players know we have to get back to where we were last month. If we can then we have a chance in any game, regardless who is at this level. We are more than capable if we get those basics right.
David added: “We need those 13, 14 lads at Wycombe showing that determined, graft and desire. That is the bare minimum for me and I didn’t see enough of that on Saturday from enough of them.”
