Influential midfielder Tom Lowery helped inspire Crewe Alexandra to an emphatic 5-1 win over Chesterfield on Saturday, and now the Academy graduate is hoping the club can pick up the maximum nine points in a week. Crewe host Cambridge United this evening at the Alexandra Stadium before travelling to face table toppers Exeter City on Saturday.
Lowery, who overcame a neck injury, to regain his place at the weekend, says that 9 points would really set a marker for the rest of the division to take note.
The skilful schemer said: “It was a great weekend, a great win and a great performance on Saturday but you have to move on quickly. Everyone was happy after the Chesterfield game but the focus quickly switched to Cambridge.
“We don’t look back too much and we have to keep our form going. We want another three points against Cambridge and then we want another three points at Exeter.
“If we could get nine points in a week then that would be massive for the confidence. The confidence is already high but we can win at home again and then beat a team like Exeter then that would be unbelievable for us. That is what we will be aiming to do.
“We have done well so far and it has been good to be involved but it is still very early days and we know that is a long way to go yet.”
