Lowery On Exeter Challenge

13 September 2017

Crewe Alexandra midfielder Tom Lowery is aiming to put last night’s first home defeat of the season behind us with a positive performance at Exeter City this weekend. Paul Tisdale’s side are currently top of the table with 19 points and they showed great character again to turn around a 1-0 deficit to defeat Barnet last night. The Grecians substitute Jayden Stockley struck in the final minute to put Tisdale’s side three points clear of Notts County.

In contrast, Crewe couldn’t find an equaliser against Cambridge United after going behind to Jabo Ibehre’s strike in the 35th minute. Lowery made way just after the hour mark for Callum Ainley, as manager David Artell explored another way to unlock the U’s defence.

Lowery is now aiming to help us bounce back at St. James’ Park this weekend: “It is still very early days and our aim hasn’t changed. We want to try and win every game and we will be trying to do that at Exeter. They are going well and are top of the league, so there is no place better to get a result.

“If we want to be challenging at the right end of the table then we need to be taking points off of the top teams. That is where we want to be and if we are thinking about promotion then we have got to compete with teams like Exeter.

“We will go there and try and play our football. They like to play as well, so it should be a good game.”
