Artell Up Against Old Pal Robins

29 September 2017

Crewe Alexandra travel to in-form Coventry City tomorrow hoping to end a run of four consecutive defeats in League Two. The Railwaymen suffered mid-week heartbreak at Wycombe after leading 2-1 thanks to two Chris Dagnall’s goals and now we will be hoping to get back on track at one of Daggers’ former clubs.

Boss David Artell knows the Sky Blues’ boss Mark Robins well from their time together at Rotherham United and he knows that his former teammate has worked wonders in making Coventry genuine contenders for promotion. The Sky Blues have lost just one of their last six games to move to 4th in the table.

Ahead of our tough trip to the Ricoh Arena, Artell said: “Coventry are a decent team and they have a bit of everything. They certainly won’t be as direct as Wycombe but they can go that way if they need to.

“They have got a good mix and have some very good footballers. We have to make sure that our own footballers perform better on the day. If that takes 60, 70, 80 minutes then so be it. It makes no difference to me. Hopefully, our football will shine through in the end.

“They will be confident at home and right at it, so we will have to stand up to that and work as hard as we did as a team on Tuesday night.

He added: “I’ve known Mark for a long time. He is a great fella. Everyone knows about the legend and Sir Alex Ferguson and all that but he never really spoke it. He is a humble guy, a great guy and a proper football guy. He loves the game and has had a great managerial career.”
