Boss Surprised We Haven't Scored In Two Games!

14 September 2017

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he is surprised that his side have failed to score in two fixtures this season. Artell says he is not worried that we have failed to find the net against Grimsby and then against Cambridge United on Tuesday night.

Those two blanks resulted in narrow 1-0 defeats, but Artell says that his strike force remains one of the best in League Two.

Chris Porter has six goals in all competitions so far this season, Chris Dagnall has chipped in with two important goals and George Cooper, Callum Ainley and Jordan Bowery are all off the mark as well.

Artell told the club’s official website: “I am surprised that we haven’t scored in two of our games this season.

“Saying that we had some chances to do so, against both Grimsby and Cambridge. We had two one-on-ones against Grimsby and had a couple of chances against Cambridge. We didn’t get the rub of the green with Chris Porter’s one on the line or when Eddie (Nolan) saw his header hit the crossbar.

“We did lack a bit of know-how and quality on Tuesday night but I know there are goals in this team. A few days earlier we scored five, so I am not worried. We have goals throughout the team.”
