Artell: "We Will Prepare Right For Chesterfield"

6 September 2017

Crewe Alexandra will be hoping to get back to winning ways again when Chesterfield visit Gresty Road on Saturday. The Railwaymen suffered their first league defeat of the season at Grimsby following what manager David Artell described as ‘our worst performance of the season by a country mile.’

The Alex boss appreciates that Chesterfield have found things difficult in adjusting to relegation from League One, but he knows that any side Gary Caldwell selects this weekend will be a tough opponent.

Ahead of our weekend encounter with the Spireites, Artell told us: “Every game is difficult if we do not play to our strengths and Saturday will be no different. If we try and whack it like we did at Grimsby then it will be another long afternoon.

“Chesterfield have struggled in the early part of the season but they got a good point last week against Coventry, especially when they had a player sent off with half an hour left.

“Gary has played various formations as he searches for his best side. I am sure he will get there but we hope we can exploit their weaknesses on Saturday and make sure we get back to doing what we do best.

“If we play like we are capable of playing then we have the players to exploit those gaps. We will prepare for whatever they throw at us and be aware of the different systems they may play.

Artell added: “First and foremost we have to focus on passing the ball to a red shirt because we didn’t do that too much on Saturday.”
