Artell: "We Need To Get Back To Playing"

7 September 2017

David Artell says his main focus this weekend is to make sure his Crewe Alexandra side restore to playing a passing game against Chesterfield. The Alex boss says that the performance at Grimsby last week was unacceptable football wise and he is after an improvement at Gresty Road.

Artell felt that we hit too many high balls up to target man Chris Porter at Blundell Park and he won’t be tolerating that style again.

The Crewe boss said: “I've made the lads acutely aware that what we did at Grimsby was not acceptable. We don't whack it. And if we do whack it, we'll lose. Because the young lads haven't been taught to play like that and the older lads won't be able to carry them even if they can play like that. It was disappointing.

“We need to get back on the ball and play some football.

“Every game is an opportunity, and it's about what we do. Forget Chesterfield, we need to get back to playing.”
