Artell: "Players Are Working Their Socks Off"

21 September 2017

David Artell firmly believes that his Crewe Alexandra side will get back on track because the players are working their socks off.

The Alex dressing room has been disappointed by the fact that we haven’t been able to build on a fantastic performance and result against Chesterfield. We failed to follow up that 5-1 win at Gresty Road and have slipped to successive defeats to Cambridge United and league leaders Exeter City.

Artell says that his dressing room are ready to roll their sleeves up and go again against a tough Carlisle United side this weekend.

The boss told crewealex.net: “The dressing room was quiet on Saturday and the journey home was quiet because we all know we didn’t help ourselves against Exeter.

“It was tough and although we did okay in moments at Exeter, those really big moments didn’t go for us on the day. Last year when it was 4-0 there, it was a tonking. It wasn’t a tonking on Saturday.

“The players have reacted well. They have trained well and the spirit in the camp is good. We have put the Exeter result to bed. The players have worked their socks off and I’ve told them that if they continue to work as hard as they have been then those big moments in games will start to go for them again.

“They will believe that and we will go again on Saturday aiming for the three points. They are working their socks off for the Football Club. It is as simple as that. “
