Artell Hopeful On Lowery Being Fit

4 September 2017

David Artell will be grateful that we have a free mid-week as it will allow those with knocks more recovery time ahead of this weekend’s home encounter against Chesterfield.

Crewe Alexandra will be without on-loan midfielder Conor Grant after he suffered concussion at the weekend. The on-loan Everton midfielder was knocked out after a clash with Mitch Rose in the centre of the pitch during our 1-0 defeat to Grimsby Town. The debutant received lengthy treatment on the pitch before being transferred to A&E. He was later discharged and was in ‘positive spirits’ on returning to the family home.

Conor will not be able to take part in any football activity for two weeks, so Artell will be hoping that Tom Lowery overcomes his neck injury. The midfielder would have started at Blundell Park but he suffered some discomfort in his neck in training and had to sit out the 1-0 defeat.

Michael Raynes, Perry Ng, Eddie Nolan and Chris Porter all came through the 90 minutes on Saturday after recently having various knocks.

Crewe will be without George Ray (back) and James Jones (hernia).
