Crewe Alexandra boss Dave Artell says that the club’s young Finnish goalkeeper Will Jaaskelainen is like a young ice-man.
The 19-year-old is currently out on loan at our near neighbours Nantwich Town and he recently made headlines by saving a last minute in the Dabbers FA Cup victory over Kettering.
It has set up a first round tie against Stevenage early next month.
Artell said of the young stopper: “I rang Dave Cooke and asked how he was doing and the word he used was ‘faultless’.
“He said Will is doing really well. He is playing at a good level for an 19-year-old goalkeeper. Dave says he takes some stick from the opposition behind the goal but it doesn’t faze him. He is a like a young iceman.
“He has that Nordic composure. He is a very cool and he has a real chance. He is still very young, especially for a goalkeeper but he will only get better with the more games he plays. It is all about his development and hopefully accelerating his path into our first team quicker.”
