David Artell has told the club’s official website that reserve goalkeeper Dave Richards has embraced the challenge of trying to secure the number one spot.
Richards,23, has played the last two matches against Coventry and Oldham in the Checkatrade Trophy and although he was on the receiving end of two 1-0 defeats, the Welshman has made some key saves to keep us in the contest.
Following last night’s narrow defeat to the Latics, Artell said of the Welshman: “Football is all about taking your opportunities because they don’t come around all that often. You have to take them.
“Trig (Richards) has taken his chance and been fine in both games. He has shown that he is a very good goalkeeper and that is the reaction I wanted from him. He has embraced that challenge and it is up him to keep it going.”
