Paper Review: Crewe 1-0 Stevenage

9 October 2017

The Chronicle

Jordan Bowery scored a dramatic late winner to end Crewe Alex’s six-match losing run at Gresty Road on Saturday.

The big striker turned and slotted in a 94th minute clincher to spark huge celebrations from the home fans at what was a deserved three points.

The other hero was keeper Dave Richards who saved a first-half penalty from Stevenage's Matt Godden.

It ended a run of eight defeats in the last nine, and they had only scored once in the past six games.

But the victory lifted the gloom in the South Cheshire – and the team to 19th in League Two.

Stevenage’s run of three straight league wins came crashing to a halt at Crewe as a last minute winner for Jordan Bowery won it for the hosts.

Boro never really showed their best stuff on the day and despite a strong defensive performance for 93 minutes, it wasn’t enough as the Railwaymen snatched it with the last kick of the game.
