Jordan Deserves The Plaudits

9 October 2017

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that Saturday’s late match winner, Jordan Bowery, deserves all the plaudits coming in his way after forcing his way back into the starting line-up.

Bowery was given the nod ahead of leading scorer Chris Porter against Stevenage at the weekend and he popped up with a priceless winner after spinning on a cross from Conor Grant before slotting it home in the 94th minute.

Artell told the club’s official website: “Jordan got the nod and he has been the bright spark in recent performances. He has been a stand-out and his goal capped another good performance from him.

“He has shown that he is a real good player in the last third or four games. Has he got to do that more often? Yes he has, but he has been good over the last few weeks and he deserved his goal for that.

“There was one moment in the first half when we were breaking and Kenny has turned to me and said ‘look at Jordan’. He was busting a gut to get there and looked strong and powerful. That is the player we want him to be.

“It shouldn’t be a surprise because Jordan is a good player. He has played in the Premier League, so we know what he can offer us. He deserves his goal and the plaudits that will come with that.”
