Cooper Relishing Tootle Contest

16 October 2017

George Cooper is looking forward to testing himself up against his former teammate Matt Tootle. The Crewe winger is set to come up against the former Crewe Alexandra Player-of-the-Season and promotion winner at Gresty Road tomorrow night.

Tootle has helped Kevin Nolan’s side reach the top of the table and he will be targeting another promotion on his CV after being part of the Crewe side that won promotion in 2012 with current boss David Artell as captain.

Cooper told crewealex.net: “I felt we deserved more from the game on Saturday, looking back on the chances we created. I should have scored with the one I had and there were others in the game.

“We also hit bar with Eddie’s header in the second half and maybe if that had gone in, then we would have been right back in the game.

“The second goal deflated us a bit and we have got to rise above that.

“The good thing about football is that there is soon another game around the corner to try and put things right.

“We know Notts County are a good side and they have had a great start to the season. It will be a good challenge up against Toots. He is a really good player and has been very good this season.

“He is a great lad on and off the pitch and I’ve always got on well with him. When I was a young lad coming through, he was always there for advice and stuff. He was always good with me.

“We will both want the three points, but I’m sure we will be friends again afterwards.”
