Manager David Artell says he wants to change the mentality of ‘unlucky’ Crewe and make sure that we produce more consistent performances over 90 minutes like we did recently in beating Stevenage 1-0 at Gresty Road.
The Alex boss praised aspects of our play in the 2-0 defeat at Yeovil but admits that the positives he garnered from the performance were drastically outweighed by the disappointment of the result. Now Crewe will be aiming to bounce back against the current league leaders Notts County tomorrow night.
Artell told crewealex.net: “We have to make sure we do not become blinded by the unlucky tag. We have lost some games 1-0 and lost at Yeovil 2-0 and we have fallen just short of the line. We have been very much in the games but it has happened too many times now for it to be a coincidence now.
“We have to make sure we have a more effective outcome from our good performances. There are positives to take, we have certainly created more chances in the last couple of games than the ones before and that is something we have been working on but we have slipped back into making some mistakes with our defending.
“It has been a lack of concentration or not tracking their man properly. It isn’t one player or one thing and we have to get back to doing the right things.
The boss added: “We have to try and get back to what we saw against Stevenage where we were the dominant side throughout and thoroughly deserved to win the game.”
