Artell: "We Have To Improve Out Of Possession"

30 October 2017

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell admits that that his side were ‘miles away out of possession’ in the second half at Colchester United. The Railwaymen allowed a Jordan Bowery lead slip through our fingers to end up losing 3-1 at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. The result saw the U’s leapfrog over us in the league table and Artell was far from happy following a poor second half show.

The manager gave another honest assessment following our sixth successive away defeat. He said: “We cannot dwell on the result or the second half performance but we won’t be brushing it under the carpet either.

“For as good as we were for 38 minutes it wasn’t acceptable in the second half. Saying that at times we were fine in possession but out of possession we were miles away.

“Maybe I need to have a look at my own manner. Perhaps I need to be more aggressive in my tone before the games or maybe I need to start having a dossier on what winds a player up. It is something I will look to address.”
