Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has told the club’s official website that our excellent 2-0 victory over Notts County last night was built firmly on sheer hard work.
The Alex thoroughly deserved to defeat the then league leaders at a vibrant Gresty Road thanks to goals in each half from Michael Raynes and Jordan Bowery.
Following the club’s second successive home win, Artell said: “It was probably our best performance and result of the season. It was built on hard work and really meaning to defend.
“I cannot remember them having too many chances and it was about us standing up to the physical side of the game and winning those battles. When you have 11 lads doing that then you really have a chance in the game.
“We scored from a set piece which is pleasing and Jordan took his goal brilliantly after a terrific through ball from George Cooper. That’s it. That’s the standard. They have it in them.
The boss added: "It is two wins out of three games after what was a bad run. We have to be more consistent but if we perform like that when we will be fine.”
