David Artell believes that George Cooper is totally relaxed about his own future. The Crewe boss is looking for the talented youngster to extend his current deal with us and he held what he described as ‘positive talks’ with the player's agent last week.
Artell told the club’s official website: “He is still young and you have to accept players will have blips, losses of form, but when he plays well he helps the team, George is an excellent player.
“If he has any aspirations of playing higher he has to be excellent more often than not, and he knows that. It's up to him.
“I met his agent last week, me and the chairman, really positive good meeting. We are waiting to hear back.
“His agent's been in hospital, and away, so that's slowed things down. There's other matters to deal with, when you are not winning games you have to make sure you concentrate on the team as opposed to the other things.
“We have to make sure George Cooper knows where he is at and why we have offered him what we have offered him.
“I think he's quite a happy-go-lucky chap. He is relaxed and he's a good kid. I’ve told him he might as well earn an extra few bob, by playing well here first.”
