Accrington Stanley: Paper Review

23 October 2017

The Chronicle

Michael Raynes was sent off as Crewe Alex slipped to a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

The captain got his marching orders for two yellow cards on a lacklustre afternoon for the Railwaymen.

Billy Kee and Jordan got the goals in the first 11 minutes to deny the Alex the chance to make it three home wins on the spin.

They stay 17th in League Two and question marks about their consistency still loom large.

Accrington climbed into the Sky Bet League Two automatic promotion places with a 2-0 win at 10-man Crewe.

Stanley were quick out of the blocks and Billy Kee put them ahead from the penalty spot after three minutes when Kayden Jackson was brought down by Michael Raynes, who was dismissed late on for a second booking.

They doubled their advantage in the 11th minute when Dave Richards could only parry Jackson's angled drive and Jordan Clark headed home the rebound.

Two goals inside the first ten minutes of the game were enough to see Accrington Stanley move back into the automatic promotion places with a 2-0 win away at Crewe.

Stanley made a dream start as Gresty Road as Billy Kee and Jordan Clark both struck inside the first 10 minutes to put the Reds in front.

Following a desperate start the home side grew into the game but failed to cause Aaron Chapman too many problems and saw captain Michael Raynes sent off late-on as Stanley cruised to the three points.
